Testing is available for those who have COVID-19 symptoms and those who have been sent for testing by their primary care provider ( physician or nurse practitioner) or Public Health.

Please note, we do not provide testing to asymptomatic individuals including pre-travel or employer requirements. If you are unsure if you qualify for testing, contact your family physician, health care provider, 8-1-1, or use the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool

Each individual will require their own booking.

Testing for COVID-19 contacts

You need a COVID-19 test if:
·         You are a contact of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 AND
·         You have 1 or more of any of the symptoms listed below
A contact is someone who had face-to-face interaction with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Some examples of a contact are:
·         A partner or family member
·         Someone you live with
·         Someone you had close social contact with
·         Someone you work closely with
To be considered a contact, you would have spent more than 15 minutes with this person, from 48 hours before they developed symptoms to 10 days after. You may have interacted without the use of physical distancing or physical barriers.

Symptoms that require testing

For people who do not know if they had a contact with someone with COVID-19, you need a COVID-19 test if you have new or worsening symptoms.

If you have 1 or more of these key symptoms, seek testing as soon as possible:
·         Fever or chills
·         Cough
·         Loss of sense of smell or taste
·         Difficulty breathing
If you have 2 or more of the symptoms below for more than 24 hours, and they are not related to any other pre-existing conditions, seek testing.

These symptoms are:
·         Sore throat
·         Loss of appetite
·         Extreme fatigue or tiredness
·         Headache
·         Body aches
·         Nausea or vomiting
·         Diarrhea
If you have only one of these symptoms, or a symptom that is not on this list and you are able to manage the symptoms at home, stay home until you feel better. If you have any questions, or the symptoms don’t go away contact your health care provider or call 8-1-1.

You should continue to seek care for other medical conditions as needed, even if it’s not related to COVID-19.

Children have similar but milder symptoms to adults.

You must self-isolate until you arrive for your appointment

If there is no availability at your preferred test collection centre, please check a neighbouring facility.

Children three months of age and older can be tested at one of the testing sites listed below. Children under three months should visit a GP or Pediatrician about testing or a local Urgent and Primary Care Centre.

For patients over the age of 4 a saline (salt water) gargle sample may be offered in place of the nose swab. If offered this option there will be one opportunity for the gargle; if there are any issues on the first attempt, the nose swab will be used instead.

To ensure test accuracy within 1 hour of the test:

Do not have anything to eat or drink, including gum or water

Do not smoke or vape

Do not brush your teeth

Please watch this video to see a video demonstration of the saline gargle sample collection, it is recommended that you practice with your child in advance. Do not practice within 2 hours of appointment time.

Please proceed to the COVID-19 test collection site in your community and identify yourself as a health care worker. The team at the site will ensure you meet criteria and will prioritize you to be seen. Please be prepared to show your workplace photo identification.

You must self-isolate until you arrive for your appointment

If there is no availability at your preferred test collection centre, please check a neighbouring facility.

Children three months of age and older can be tested at one of the testing sites listed below. Children under three months should visit a GP or Pediatrician about testing or a local Urgent and Primary Care Centre.
